Bayside is one of the neighborhoods in Queens, New York City. Whitestone is its boundary towards the north, Long Island Sound and Little Neck Bay to the northeast, Douglaston to the east, Oakland Gardens to the south, and Fresh Meadows to the west. CNN Money ranked Bayside as one of the most expensive housing markets in the country when it analyzed similar detached houses across the United States, despite the abundance of housing of detached homes that are in the national average to extremely high in the density of residents.
Bayside’s story dates back to 2000 B.C. in the year 2000 B.C. when Bayside was first discovered by the Matinecock Native American tribe that arrived in the area. The area was first settled in 1637 when there was a time when the Dutch West India Company was a major force in encouraging Dutch farmers to accept grants of land within New Amsterdam, which was the name given to New York then. William Lawrence of England built the first permanent structure, a stone farm; at the time; he moved to Bayside around 1644. Twenty years later, England took control of New Amsterdam, renamed it the Province of New York, and English residents began settling in the region. When Queens County was officially established in 1683, it was named after the town of Flushing. Town Flushing was one of the towns. Flushing comprised one of the initial five towns in Queens, NYC, and today’s Bayside was part of Flushing, which was part of the Town of Flushing. In the American Revolutionary War, whaleboats from Connecticut attacked the Bayside-Little Neck region, and the British military took over the town of Flushing.
Bayside was the scene of a murder carried out by Peter Hains, a prominent army officer assisted by his son, the sea novelist Thornton Jenkins Hains. The latter shot dead the chief Editor, William Annis, at his yacht club in 1908. The known “Regatta Murder” led to an extensively publicized trial in the Flushing County Courthouse. Peter Hains was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to eight years in Sing in the meantime, and Thornton Hains was acquitted.
Bayside Hills
Bayside Hills is a subdivision of the south side of Bayside, which 48th Avenue borders the northern part along with the Long Island Expressway to the south, 211th Street to the west, and Springfield Boulevard to the east. The houses in Bayside Hills, many constructed by Gross Morto, the developer, tend to be more luxurious and possess more value for the property.

Bay Terrace is an affluent neighborhood often considered part of the greater region of Bayside.
